WhatsApp has introduced a new update aimed at making it easier to respond to missed calls. The new feature allows users to leave short voice or video notes when a call goes unanswered. These reply options appear directly on the call screen, so users do not need to open WhatsApp or navigate to the chat window. The note is attached to the missed call itself, which WhatsApp describes as a modern take on voicemail, designed for users who want to relay information quickly when a call is not answered.
The company is also expanding the role of Meta AI within the WhatsApp application. Meta AI now supports enhanced image generation using models from FLUX, enabling more detailed and refined visuals. These improvements are aimed at users who want to create personalised holiday messages or custom-made graphics directly within chats.
WhatsApp has made further enhancements to its calling features as well. In group video calls, the app will now automatically highlight the person who is speaking at any moment, improving clarity during conversations with multiple participants. Voice chats have also gained new reactions, such as cheers and other expressive responses, allowing users to provide informal, real-time feedback. These reactions appear temporarily during the session.

Another new creative tool allows users to animate any photo into a short clip. By typing a prompt that describes the desired motion, the app generates the animation without requiring any external applications. This addition reflects Meta’s ongoing effort to integrate creative AI tools directly into the chat experience.
The update also brings organisational improvements to WhatsApp’s desktop version. A new Media tab now gathers documents, images, videos, and links shared across chats, making it easier to locate older files. Link previews have also been refined, with shared webpages now displaying clearer cards that improve readability and usability.
