Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall for its Grand Vitara SUV due to a potential defect in the vehicle’s fuel level indicator and warning system. According to the automaker’s regulatory filing, 39,506 units of the SUV manufactured between December 9, 2024 and April 29, 2025 have been affected.
The company stated that the fuel level gauge and warning light in the speedometer unit may not display the correct fuel level, potentially misleading drivers about the remaining fuel in the tank. This issue affects Grand Vitara SUVs sold in the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki will address the problem by contacting the owners of the impacted vehicles directly. Affected customers will be asked to visit authorized Maruti Suzuki service centers for inspection and replacement of the faulty component. The company has assured that the repair will be carried out free of cost.
This recall has been initiated as a precautionary measure, and Maruti Suzuki has urged customers to respond promptly to official communication to ensure the safe operation of their vehicles going forward.
The Grand Vitara remains one of the most popular hybrid SUVs in India. It is currently priced between ₹10.77 lakh and ₹19.73 lakh, depending on the variant. The SUV is available with petrol, CNG, and strong-hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, and also offers an all-wheel-drive option, making it a preferred choice among buyers.
