Apple is reportedly working on a wearable AI pin equipped with cameras, microphones, and a speaker. The device, which is said to be about the size of an AirTag, could launch in the coming months or years, according to a report by The Information.
The wearable AI pin is described as a thin, circular device made of aluminium and glass, designed to capture and respond to what is happening around the user. It reportedly features dual cameras on the front — a standard lens and a wide-angle lens — for taking photos and recording videos.
For audio, the device includes a built-in speaker, while three microphones pick up ambient sound and voice commands. There is also said to be a physical button along the edge for manual controls, as well as a magnetic charging contact on the back of the device.

Apple is reportedly targeting a 2027 launch window and is said to be planning production of up to 20 million units. However, the company may be accelerating development to compete with OpenAI, which is expected to announce its own AI hardware later this year.
The report notes that the project is still in early development stages, and Apple could still cancel it if the product does not meet expectations. If launched, the AI pin would likely work closely with Apple’s upcoming Siri overhaul, which aims to transform the voice assistant into a more conversational, ChatGPT-style AI chatbot.
AI wearables, however, have not had an easy start so far. The Humane AI Pin, developed by former Apple employees, struggled in the market and has reportedly ceased operations. It remains to be seen whether Apple’s entry into AI wearables can succeed where others have failed.
