The new Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, is on its way. The company has officially confirmed this. Some of the notable changes include circular icons for Bluetooth and the torch, along with redesigned icons for temperature control and brightness adjustment widgets. There’s also a new icon for the to-do list.

Additionally, the previously monochromatic red color palette has been updated with a pop of yellow, adding more visual variety to the UI.

Nothing OS 4.0 is expected to deliver native Android 16 features while implementing a robust new design system, setting the foundation for an enhanced user interface.

The upcoming Nothing Phone will feature a circular torch icon with a red-colored torchlight effect.

While these visual upgrades might seem underwhelming to some, the real highlight is the heavy integration of AI. Nothing OS 4.0 is set to bring advanced AI features and deep integration with Google Gemini, starting with the Nothing Phone 3. This will enable smarter search functionality and more personalized suggestions based on user behavior.

The update will also introduce customizable widgets, revamped native apps, and improved device security. According to speculation, Nothing OS 4.0 will launch soon, first rolling out to the flagship Nothing Phone 3, followed by the Nothing Phone 2a series, Nothing Phone 2, and CMP phones.

This announcement comes just weeks after the Carl Pei-led tech firm began rolling out the first closed beta of Nothing OS 4.0 to select Nothing Phone 3 users. This beta program allows participants to test the upcoming version, report bugs, and provide feedback to ensure that user perspectives are taken into account.
