Elon Musk’s companies, xAI and X (formerly Twitter), filed a lawsuit on Monday against Apple and OpenAI, alleging that the two companies are illegally manipulating the AI app market.
According to the lawsuit, Apple has partnered with OpenAI—one of the leading players in generative AI—in a desperate attempt to protect its smartphone dominance by gaining exclusive advantages from AI advancements.

This legal move is the latest in the ongoing public feud between tech titans Elon Musk and Sam Altman, who have repeatedly exchanged sharp remarks through posts and interviews.
Musk, a former co-founder and co-chair of OpenAI, has previously sued to block OpenAI’s transition into a for-profit company, arguing it goes against the original mission of the organization.
He also reportedly submitted an undisclosed bid of $97.4 billion to acquire OpenAI, which was ultimately rejected by the company.
In earlier posts, Musk claimed that it is “impossible for any company other than OpenAI” to reach the #1 spot on the Apple App Store, hinting at possible unfair promotion or preferential treatment.
As of now, neither Apple nor OpenAI have commented on the lawsuit or Musk’s allegations.
