Meta plans to test new premium subscription offerings across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The tech giant says these subscriptions will give users access to exclusive features, enhanced productivity tools, and expanded AI capabilities.

In the coming months, Meta will roll out a premium experience on its social platforms, offering special features and greater control over how users share and connect, while keeping core features free. The move signals Meta’s growing focus on monetizing advanced tools and AI-driven experiences.

Meta also revealed plans to scale Manus, an AI agent it recently acquired for a reported $2 billion, as part of its broader subscription strategy. The company is taking a two-fold approach with Manus: integrating it into Meta’s existing products while continuing to sell standalone subscriptions to businesses.

Meta has already been spotted working on adding a shortcut to the Manus AI on Instagram, according to app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi.

In addition, Meta plans to test subscriptions for AI-powered features such as Vibe, its short-form AI video generation experience built into the Meta AI app. Vibe allows users to create and remix AI-generated videos. While the feature has been free since its launch last year, Meta may introduce subscription tiers that offer additional video creation opportunities each month.

Meta Verified, which is aimed at content creators and businesses, already offers a subscription model that includes a verified badge, 24/7 direct support, impersonation protection, improved search visibility, exclusive stickers, and more.

The launch of additional subscriptions could help Meta generate more revenue. However, some users may be hesitant to sign up as subscription fatigue grows, with many digital services competing for monthly spending. To succeed, Meta will need to offer compelling and differentiated premium features that clearly justify the added cost.
